All of the live Disney movies have me in the mood to go back and watch the classics!
You know that part when Belle opens her eyes and sees the library in awe?! That would be me. I have dreamed of a library in my home with a sliding ladder and spiral staircase since the first time I saw this movie.
Then reality hit and I found myself with boxes of books that I couldn't even remember the titles of half of them. I needed to find them a home. My solution, a bookshelf with a sliding barn door to allow for both calm clean"er" lines and ample amounts of storage.
I am a bit of a book nerd and have books EVERYwhere in our home. I am always looking for some good Christian Fiction if you have any recommendations! Dee Henderson's O'Malley Series is my all time favorite that I highly suggest if you like a little action, heroism and romance tied up together.
It is safe to say I have a bit of an addiction with books and will reread books multiple times. With that said, I hold on to books and need a place to store them. Since taking the pictures above, the hidden side of the bookcase no longer has the extra space in the bottom 😳
Knowing the amount of books we had and my desire for things to look organized, I knew I needed a piece that could accomplish two different tasks at once, function and design. I created this bookshelf with a herringbone barn wood door to hide away the mess of books tossed in quickly or with no apparent order. On the other side, a story can be told about who we are with all the pieces I selected.
Take the tackle box on the bottom shelf, it belong to Thomas' grandfather but I now currently use it to store seasonal decor that I can easily access. Go up one more shelf and you can see the basket I made for 4H my senior year that happened to be worth the tears and stress of trying to complete it on time. Each shelf holds a piece of our story whether it is some of our favorite books, quirky interests or reminders of the day we said "I Do."
So what is it you are looking to solve? Is it a storage issue? A design struggle? Take a step back and really evaluate your needs and what is best for everyone in your home. Need some help? Feel free to reach out and I will see how I can help!
Until Next Week,
Many Blessings!
